...sitting here at work waiting to make sure the program I'm working on doesn't blow up.
We upgraded our CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application back in December. When we did that, a bunch of stuff that keeps the data up to date and does some really cool, automagical stuff behind the scenes broke. It's taken us until this week to get things to the point where we think they're fixed.
Of course, the stuff that broke was all stuff that the consultants we used with this project told us would be fine and that upgrading them would be a piece of cake. Ha.
Because this is a production system, we can't just go changing things willy-nilly whenever we want. We have to wait until everyone is off the system. Talk about work-a-holics. I mean, I believe in a work ethic as much as the next guy, but these people take the cake. They expect all of our systems to be up 24/7/365 and can get quite indignant when we have to take an outage, no matter how necessary it is.
So here I am at 8:30 on a Friday night waiting and watching to make sure this thing goes smoothly. I had a few initial bugs that I was able to resolve. Now it's just a matter of waiting on this last update process to see how long it takes so I can schedule other jobs appropriately. It has been running for just over an hour.
I would so much rather be at home with
fyreseer. *waves* Hi, honey!
*sigh*
