So I scoped out the hallway with my laptop to see where the primo rooms were with respect to the wireless signal. The sweet spot appeared to be one room over from mine.
I stopped at the front desk at the hotel and asked if I could switch rooms to get a better wireless signal. The guy behind the desk looked up what was available, and unfortunately (despite the parking lot being pretty much empty the last two nights), the only room he would put me in was 2 doors down the opposite way.
But then he offered me an ethernet bridge. It is powered and has a decent length power cord and ethernet cable.
I now have excellent connectivity!
